In transcervical resection of the endometrium (TCRE), a loop electrode is used to excise the endometrium and the superficial myometrium. <\/span><\/p>\n

The advantages of TCRE are that it enables histological assessment of excised endometrium and also enables submucous fibroids and polyps to be excised at the same time if present.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The uterine distension medium used during TCRE must be electrolyte-free, and this increases the risk of hyponatraemia if excess fluid is absorbed into the circulation during the procedure.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

A further disadvantage of TCRE is that it is associated with a higher risk of uterine perforation and excessive bleeding than other endometrial ablation techniques.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
