Q: How many years have you been delivering babies?

A: I have delivered babies for the last 40 years.

Q: Currently how many babies you deliver each year?

A: I could deliver up to 200 babies a year.

Q: What would happen if you are away or sick?

A: An Obstetrician would cover my absence.

Q: What would happen if you are stuck in traffic?

A: An alternative Obstetrician would be contacted.

Q: If I am in labour should I call you first?

A: I advise you to call me before the hospital.

Q: Should I see my family doctor if I have flu?

A: You should see your family doctor first.

Q: What should I do if I experience abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding, leakage of liquor, reduced fetal movements or see flashes of light?

A: Please inform me and the hospital immediately.

Q: What would happen if I go into preterm labour before 32-33 completed weeks?

A: You would be admitted to a Hospital with a tertiary level special care baby unit.

Q: How long will my baby be staying at special care baby unit?

A: It depends on how early the baby is born and if any complication occurs.

Q: Who will look after my baby at special care baby unit?

A: Paediatrician / Neonatologist; specialist baby doctor.

Q: Who will circumcise my baby boy and when?

A: A surgeon as soon as it is feasible to do so.

Q: When shall I see you for post-natal check up?

A: Six to eight weeks following birth or earlier if there is abnormal vaginal bleeding, smelly vaginal discharge, wound infection or bleeding, abdominal pain or swelling or pain in calf muscles
