Infertility Facts


  • Infertility is a disease of the reproductive system that impairs the ability to reproduce.


  • The inability to have a child (impaired fecundity) affects 10-15% of women in the reproductive-age population. 


  • Infertility affects women and men equally.


  • Twenty-five per cent of infertile couples have more than one factor that contributes to their infertility.


  • In 40 per cent of infertile couples, the male partner is either the sole cause or a contributing cause of infertility.
